Methlick School

Methlick School was built in 1881 and became a school for primary age children in 1972. In 2002, an extension was opened to provide accommodation for the local pre-school playgroup. In 2007, a further extension was opened to accommodate a new school kitchen, dining hall, reception area, school office and Head Teacher’s office.

Today at Methlick

The school is located in the Ythan valley, 9 miles north west of Ellon and 7 miles north east of Old Meldrum. The catchment area includes the village and surrounding area. Currently the school role is 115 pupils with 6 classes. Our new Nursery opened in August 2017 and we have 35 children and 2 sessions. Mrs Adrienne Guy took up the post of Head Teacher of our school in August 2014 and this session we have 4 full time teachers, 3 job-share teachers and a probationer teacher. Our Visiting Specialists teach, Music, ICT, French & German and PE. Methlick School is part of the Meldrum Community School Network (CSN) with children transferring to Meldrum Academy at the end of Primary 7. The school is very fortunate to have the support of our Parent Council (MSPC)
